Exhibition dedicated to holy dwellings opened at National Library of Moldova

Chisinau, 12 June /MOLDPRES/ - A topic-related exhibition titled, Holy churches in the light of years: monasteries from Moldova at anniversaries, was inaugurated at the National Library of Moldova (BNRM) today.     

Fifty five Christian Orthodox holy dwellings work in Moldova: 22 monasteries and 6 hermitages for men, 24 monasteries and 2 hermitages women, an old-rite monastery. The exhibition promotes and turns to account documents from BNRM’s collection, which show the history of monasteries from Moldova, which survived the havoc of the times and history and have reached a solid anniversary since their first documented mention.  The exhibition familiarizes the public with the typological diversity of the documents from the Library’s collection and contributes to the promotion of interest in reading.     

The exhibition comprises about 80 documents (monographs, encyclopedias, albums, reproductions, folders, post cards, maps), systematized in four sections: Curchi Monastery – 250th anniversary of the first documented mention; Condrita Monastery – 240th anniversary; Pripiceni-Curchi Monastery – 120th anniversary and Zloti Monastery – 80th anniversary.      

The exhibition will be opened till 30 September.
