Moldovan head of state, members of Supreme Council of Magistracy discuss justice reform

Chisinau, 12 June /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today was invited to a discussion with the members of the Supreme Council of Magistracy (CSM), the presidential press service has reported.
The head of state stressed that the system must be as soon as possible cleaned from the corrupt judges, who compromise the image of the entire system and endanger Moldova’s existence as country. Maia Sandu also said that concrete results were necessary, especially convictions in cases of big corruption, in order to stop the corruption and reestablish the feeling of justice in the society.
President Maia Sandu noted that a strong and independent justice was vital for the country’s economic development and ensuring the citizens’ well-being. Quite important is that Moldova’s accession to the European Union depends, to a great extent, on the success of the justice reform and the country’s capacity to edify a justice due to work at the European standards. The Supreme Council of Magistracy has an important role in this process.
The CSM members tackled more subjects on the work of the institution, cooperation with other institutions of the state, as well as the problems of the judicial system.
