Moldova, Australia to boost bilateral cooperation, especially in economic, institutional sectors

Chisinau, 13 June /MOLDPRES/ - The boosting of the Moldovan-Australian dialogue and perspectives of fostering the economic and investment relations today were discussed by Prime Minister Dorin Recean and Kyiv-based Ambassador of Australia to Moldova Bruce Edwards.
According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the officials referred to the need to turn to account the potential of cooperation in the fields of economy, energy and information technologies, as well as to launch joint projects, especially on the development of infrastructure in Moldova. In the context, PM Dorin Recean noted that a priority of the Moldovan government stayed the attraction of foreign investments into the country’s economy.
The sides touched upon the importance to exchange experience in the process of sale, export and promotion of wine products, as well as the enforcement of advanced technologies in the vine growing and wine making sector.
Moldova and Australia established diplomatic relations in 1992, with both countries actively participating in a string of multilateral forums. According to the Australian census taken in 2016, over 900 citizens born in Moldova live in Australia.
