Chisinau, 14 June /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu spent the afternoon of 13 June with residents from the Carpineni village, central Hancesti district, which is the second largest village of Moldova, the presidential press service has reported.

The settlement is a good example of carrying out of local development projects: roads were constructed, leisure places were arranged for adults and playgrounds for children; the village is supplied with drinking water. These things, as well as many others were possible through the efficient cooperation of the local authorities with development partners, as well as due to the natives who get involved in the affairs of the community and contribute to projects’ implementation.

President Maia Sandu also visited the community centre, the façade of which was renovated within a project co-financed through the European Village national programme. Another project, through which small businesses are backed, is partially financed through the European Village programme as well. A centre for the support of local businesses works in the Carpineni village too.

„Among the entrepreneurs beneficiaries, there are also the spouses Sergiu and Maria Chirinciuc, who in 2013 returned from Italy and set up a small factory for producing pasta. Presently, the Carpineni brand is known all over Moldova. The creation of conditions for the development of small businesses in villages is essential for the reanimation of our settlements and ensuring a better living in Moldova,’’ the Moldovan president said.
