Moldovan wrestler won gold medal at European Championship

Chisinau, June 18. /MOLDPRES/- Wrestler Alexandru Borș won the gold medal in the category up to 80 kilograms in the European Championship, 2023 edition. The competition is held on June 15-18 in Tirana (Albania).
According to the Ministry of Education and Research (MEC), Alexandru is an athlete at the Republican Sports High School, Master of Sports, and the medal he obtained brings him the title of double European Champion.
In Tirana, in the preliminary matches, our athlete defeated opponents from Belarus (under the neutral flag), Romania, Germany and Bulgaria, and in the finals he defeated the opponent from Armenia.
The wrestler is trained by the coaches of the national wrestling team Iurie Derminji, Nicolai Scurtul, Segiu Chim, and Ilie Chirtoacă.
The participation in the European competition was possible thanks to the financial support of the MEC, and the athlete and the coaches will benefit from monetary prizes offered by the ministry.
