Moldovan president thanks for support provided by Spain to Moldova's European integration way

Chisinau, 26 June /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today had a meeting with Charge d’Affaires of the Diplomatic Office of the Kingdom of Spain Moldova Juan Antonio Martín Burgos, who is at the end of his mandate. The officials exchanged opinions on subjects concerning the bilateral agenda, the presidential press service has reported.
The head of state thanked the Spanish official for the political support provided by Spain – an important partner of Moldova, for the agenda of reforms of the government and the country’s European integration way. The Moldovan president noted that, during 2022-2023, the bilateral cooperation had become closer in such important sectors as: health and social protection, education, internal affairs and defence. The head of state stressed that the leadership further relied on the advancement of the Chisinau-Madrid relations.
The two officials discussed also aspects on Moldova’s European agenda, given that, in next July, Spain will take over the Presidency of the European Council and the hosting of the next summit of the European Political Community in October 2023. The head of state thanked for the support received by Moldova for the European integration way. Maia Sandu also said that the country was relying, in continuation, on Spain’s support for the speeding up in the next phases of accession to the European Union.
