Former U.S. magistrate to be head of commission for evaluation of Moldovan top court's judges

Chisinau, 30 June /MOLDPRES/ - A former magistrate from the United States today was elected head of the commission for the evaluation of the integrity of the judges and candidates for the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ). The new head, Scott Bales, was elected by secret vote out of those six members – three national and three international - at the first meeting of the commission.
The head of the evaluation commission will coordinate the work of the commission and its secretariat, summoning and leading the commission’s meetings during his entire mandate.
Scott Bales is former Chief Justice of the Arizona Supreme Court and presided over more judicial commissions for nomination. The commission for the evaluation of the candidates for the Supreme Court of Justice is made up of six members, appointed to office by the parliament.
