Tragic incident at Airport: Delegation from Tajikistan paid working visit to General Prosecutor's Office

Chisinau, July 3. /MOLDPRES/- A delegation of law enforcement bodies from Tajikistan paid a working visit to the General Prosecutor's Office on the tragic incident at the Chisinau International Airport, resulting in two deaths.

Acting General Prosecutor Ion Munteanu had an official meeting with representative of the diplomatic mission of Tajikistan accredited to Moldova and with a group of representatives of the legal bodies of this country.

The meeting took place in the context of the crimes committed on June 30 at Chisinau International Airport with the involvement of a citizen from Tajikistan - resulting in the death of two people.

"Representatives of the law enforcement bodies in Tajikistan, as well as prosecutors from Moldova involved in the investigation of the case, expressed their openness to cooperation in order to fully investigate and under all aspects of the crimes committed by that person both in Tajikistan before and in Moldova recently. The exchange of information will be carried out through the channels provided by the criminal procedural legislation and the international acts in the matter of mutual legal assistance, to which both states are parties", a press release of the General Prosecutor's Office reads.

Munteanu said "he is grateful to his colleagues in Tajikistan for openness to providing available assistance and hopes that cooperation will help find the truth in the investigated cases".

Two persons - a border policeman and an airport security employee died on the evening of Friday, June 30, at Chisinau International Airport, after they were shot by a foreign citizen, who was not allowed to enter the country.

The man, a citizen of Tajikistan, aged 43, was allegedly a member of an organized criminal ring and wanted in his native country. According to a press release from the Prosecutor's Office in Tajikistan, the criminal ring to which the man is said to be a member was allegedly involved in a kidnapping case of the vice president of a bank in Tajikistan.

The basic criminal file is managed by the Chisinau Prosecutor's Office. Also, the General Prosecutor's Office initiated a criminal process in order to verify the non-fulfilment or improper fulfillment of service obligations by the persons involved in ensuring the security of the persons at the Airport on June 30.
