Moldovan president congratulates medalists from Canoe-Kayak World Championship

Chisinau, July 10. /MOLDPRES/- President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu conveyed a congratulatory message to Moldovan canoeists today. They returned home with 7 medals from Canoe-Kayak World Championship, held on July 5-9 in Auronzo, Italy, the presidential press service has reported.

"The Moldovan team ranked 4th in the Under 23 category and 7th in the general ranking. The results prove the talent and joint effort of the Moldovan athletes", the president said.

The official pointed out the outstanding performances of our athletes: "The doubles Maria Olărașu - Daniela Cociu and Maria Olărașu - Mihail Chihaia became world champions, and tandem Mihail Culceac - Stanislav Banaru got bronze. Our athletes also excel in individual events: Elena Glizan got two medals, silver and bronze, and canoeists Maria Olărașu and Mihail Culceac took the bronze. Behind these results is a lot of hard work and discipline. Coaches Victor Reneischi and Nicolae Juravschi guided and supported them on the way to success".

Maia Sandu congratulated the athletes, coaches and their families and wished them success in all competitions.
