Chisinau, July 12. /MOLDPRES/- The center for strategic communication and countering disinformation will set up in Moldova. The project submitted in this regard was approved today by the Government.
General Secretary of the Government Artur Mija said that the center will have the mission of strengthening cooperation between institutions in the fight against disinformation, manipulation of information and foreign interference, which pose a danger or may harm national security and endanger carrying out national interests.
"We have ignored propaganda and disinformation for a long time and now we have reached a point where things are completely distorted and the world believes that war is justified, that inciting inter-ethnic hatred is something normal. This is where we have arrived", said Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
The legislative initiative was submitted by President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu. The head of state argued the need for the creation of the new institution by the fact that propaganda is a direct threat to the security of Moldova and endangers the free, democratic and prosperous future of the country.
