Chisinau, July 19. /MOLDPRES/- The energy performance of the buildings will be better monitored, and minimum requirements in the field will be respected during the construction of new buildings. Government approved a draft law on energy performance of buildings, which introduces energy efficiency standards in the case of new buildings, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
Building efficiency is one of the 20 priority actions of the government, announced by Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
The document, set up with the support of the USAID Moldova Energy Security Activity aims to regulate the inspection mechanism of heating systems and ventilation and conditioning systems, by energy evaluators. These specialists will provide consultancy in the field, being qualified and registered with the Agency for Energy Efficiency.
At the same time, the draft law will ensure the creation and operation of the national information system in the energy performance of buildings to carry out the strategy for renovating the national real estate fund and the national plan for increasing the number of buildings whose energy consumption is almost equal to zero. Through this legislative initiative, the Government reiterates the state's increased interest in reducing final energy consumption, in the situation where buildings represent the largest energy consumer, around 50% of total consumption.
