Chisinau, 26 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Environment Ministry has carried out an unforeseen control at the Termoelectrica stock company, following information which appeared in mass media on the burial of crude oil on the territory of the stock company’s warehouse. The Environment Ministry and the Inspectorate for Environmental Protection (IPM) informed that they had taken note on this case.
According to the Environment Ministry, a sudden control started on 20 July morning, which lasted till 25 July. ‘’Mixed samples of soil contaminated with residua of crude oil were collected from the Heating Power Station 1 (CET 1). The concerned laboratory of the Environment Agency will analyze the samples and will inform IPM about the level of the soil’s contamination. Subsequently, it will make the assessment of an eventual damage caused to the environment,’’ reads a press release by the Environment Ministry.
At a today’s cabinet meeting, PM Dorin Recean asked for resignations at the Termoelectrica enterprise, after information on alleged burial of quantities of crude oil had appeared in the public space. ‘’The situation at Termoelectrica is unacceptable, for two reasons: of attitude towards the environment, as well as in terms of management procedure. All the management should be reshuffled till the end of this week,’’ Dorin Recean said.
Video recordings have been earlier spread in the public space, showing that Termoelectrica would have buried crude oil of bad quality. As a result, the enterprise said that an internal investigation would be made in this case, in order to establish all circumstances of the incident and would subsequently publish the findings.
