Draft law on anticorruption judicial system, amendment of normative acts submitted to Moldova's parliament

Chisinau, 28 July /MOLDPRES/ - A draft law on the anticorruption judicial system has been worked out, following a string of consultations and collection of opinions on the concept on creation of a law court specialized in corruption causes.
According to the presidential press service, the legislative initiative, which comes from President Maia Sandu, was improved with proposals coming from the civil society, judges, prosecutors and other experts in law. Also, development partners expressed their opinion as well.
The draft law is aimed at strengthening the efforts of combating the corruption and ensuring a process of quick and qualitative examination of complex corruption cases. It regulates the organization and work of the court specialized in corruption causes and of the anticorruption college of the Chisinau Court of Appeal.
Besides the judging of corruption acts, the specialized court will consider also the lawfulness of the damage and inspection reports issued by the National Integrity Authority, as well as the Authority’s requests on the confiscation of the unjustified wealth.
Additionally, the draft law contains norms on the amendment of the related normative framework, which will ensure the functionality of the anticorruption judicial system. The legislative initiative was submitted to parliament for consideration and adoption. The parliament will organize the public consultation and the approval of the draft according to the legislation in force.
