Chisinau, Aug. 1 /MOLDPRES/- Last few days, during the working visit to Taraclia, President Maia Sandu made a stop at the ethno-tourist complex Gagauz Sofrasi in Congaz, the largest village in the country. The owner of the guesthouse, Ana Statova, started a business in rural tourism seven years ago, the presidential press service has reported.

"Each element of the complex - the hotel, the restaurant, the cellar, the traditional houses and the museum - reflects the ethnic diversity of the southern part of the country. The dishes are also traditional from Gagauzia. Moldova has a great ethnic and cultural diversity, which is part of the heritage of our country. Such economic activities contribute to creating jobs, as well as to preserving and promoting the culture of the Gagauz people," the president said.

Maia Sandu said Gagauz Sofrasi is an example of using the opportunities to finance a business - both from public funds and from those of development partners. Thanks to donors, solar panels were installed, which provide all the energy necessary for the operation of the guesthouse.

"We are committed to modernize our villages by developing the rural economy, including by encouraging village women to open businesses. In July, the Government approved the program Support for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises in the tourism, through which several businesses, which carry out tourism activities in villages, will be supported. We will continue to invest in our localities and use the specifics of each region," the president said.
