MAEIE: Bus with 60 Moldovan and Romanian citizens caught fire in Austria

Chisinau, Aug. 1 /MOLDPRES/- A bus with 60 Moldovan and Romanian citizens caught fire yesterday in Austria, on the Vienna ring road - A21, towards Vösendorf.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MAEIE), the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Vienna was informed about the accident involving a bus with Romanian registration numbers. It was heading from Spain to Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
"The embassy is in permanent contact with the bus drivers. They reported that all passengers were evacuated, without anyone being injured. The bus is registered with Romanian numbers, and its trailer with Moldovan numbers. It caught fire at 14:00 on July 31, being destroyed by flames in about 10 minutes, the reason being unclear. At the same time, the trailer was uncoupled from the bus in time and was not engulfed in flames", a press release of the MAEIE reads.
According to the information presented by the drivers and passengers, they were escorted by the police to a gas station near the place of the incident, waiting for transport units to continue their route to Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
The Embassy of Moldova in Vienna continues to be in contact with the citizens of the country and to provide the necessary assistance.
