EU Action program runs until March 2024

Chisinau, 2 Aug. /MOLDPRES/- Government approved today at the initiative of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development the initiation of negotiations and the approval of the signing of the Addendum to the Financing Agreement between the Moldovan government and the European Union on the development of rural areas in Moldova, signed on July 21, 2017, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

The project provides for extending the deadline for the execution of the works set out in the basic agreement for the completion of the EU Action Construction of water and sewerage infrastructure and energy efficiency in public buildings, which aims to carry out 18 infrastructure projects, started in December 2017. Thus, the EU and the German government have agreed to extend the implementation period of the EU Action at no cost by 31 March 2024.

"Today we have carried out 16 projects out of the 18 proposed within the EU Action. Completion of the last two energy efficiency improvement projects at the "Dimitrie Cantemir" Theoretical High School in the municipality of Balti and at the "Alexei Mateevici" Theoretical High School in the city of Soldănești requires more time," Minister Andrei Spînu said.

Following the implementation of the EU Action, about 112 thousand citizens will have access to water supply and sewage services, and over five thousand students and teachers will benefit from European study conditions.
