U.S. Embassy came with reaction to CSJ decisions

Chisinau, 4 Aug. /MOLDPRES/- U.S. Embassy in Chisinau came today with a reaction to the decisions of the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) to re-examine the candidates for CSP and CSM who did not pass the evaluation procedure.
A press release reads that the United States of America joins international partners in supporting the European path of the Republic of Moldova.
"Moldovan citizens deserve an independent, integral, efficient, responsible and transparent judiciary. The judicial reform is a key element on Moldova's path to EU accession. The activity of the Commission for evaluating the integrity of candidates for the position of member in the self-administration bodies of judges and prosecutors represents an important foundation for the justice reform in Moldova. It has already been possible to check the people who have become members of the Superior Council of Magistrates and to examine the candidates who are ready to be appointed to the Superior Council of Prosecutors. The Evaluation Commission demonstrated its professionalism and conscientiousness, and we particularly appreciate the way in which this process was carried out", the statement says.
"We are convinced that the members of the Evaluation Commission will analyze in detail the Court's reasoning and take into account all the findings, applying their expertise and professionalism in re-evaluating these appeals in accordance with their independent mandate, respecting national, European and international legislation", the communique reads.
On August 1, 2023, the CSJ annulled 21 decisions not to promote candidates to positions in the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) and the Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP), as follows: Angela Popil, Vladislav Holban, Alexei Panis, Anatolie Gîrbu, Veronica Cupcea, Alexandru Rotari, Stanislav Sorbalo, Valentin Caisin, Ion Chirtoacă, Vitalie Codreanu, Vitalie Stratan, Angela Bostan, Aureliu Postică, Victor Sandu, Nicolae Șova, Aliona Miron, Cristina Gladcov, Tatiana Chiriac, Ecaterina Buzu, Mihail Bușuleac and Sergiu Osoianu, and ordered their re-evaluation by the Pre-Vetting Commission.
