Moldovan electoral body accredited first international observers for autumn elections

Chisinau, August 11 /MOLDPRES/- The Central Electoral Commission /CEC/ today accredited the first international observers to monitor the general local elections on November 5, 2023.

Thus, two international observers from the Embassy of the Czech Republic in the Republic of Moldova were accredited. The deadline for applications for observer accreditation is 28 October 2023.

Also today, the CEC approved the Regulation on the establishment and registration of initiative groups, the preparation, presentation and verification of subscription lists.

The document establishes the way of setting up and registering initiative groups, drawing up subscription lists, the procedure for collecting signatures and the deadline for their presentation and verification, as well as the responsibilities of the people who collect the signatures of supporters.

For the general local elections of the current year, the period of registration of the initiative groups and/or the release of subscription lists in support of independent candidates will begin after the establishment of the lower electoral bodies.
