Chisinau, August 14 /MOLDPRES/- Household appliances will have new energy labels, on a scale from A to G, with A being the most energy efficient. The government has approved a draft law on labeling products with energy impact, an updated version of the EU directive in the field, which involves simplifying the information displayed about the energy consumption of products introduced on the market or put into operation, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
One of the provisions of the legislative initiative involves the replacement of energy classes from A+++ to D. The label will have a closed scale, including only the letters from A to G, each letter representing a class that corresponds to a level of energy saving. The purpose of the directive is to update the previous provisions, taking into account the innovations and technological advances achieved in recent years in the field of energy efficiency of products with an energy impact.
The EU directive transposition will also contribute to the future programs that the Ministry of Energy is preparing together with the Energy Efficiency Agency, with the support of the European Union and UNDP Moldova, aimed at replacing old and energy-inefficient household appliances.
