Chisinau, 21 August /MOLDPRES/ - The micro and small farmers, hit by the crises of the 2022 year, will be helped by the cabinet, in order to prevent their insolvency. To this end, the cabinet of ministers earmarked 200 million lei – money due to be distributed through the Agency for Intervention and Payments in Agriculture, following the collection of applications for assistance, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The financial quantum established for each applicant will facilitate the tilling of the land and its preparation for the immediately next period, will improve the financial situation and will not allow the getting into insolvency for about 3,000 farmers, who own lands with areas of up to 1,500 hectares.
„The agriculture benefits from massive subsidization worth more than 1 billion 700 thousand lei, as we want this sector to gradually become more endowed with technologies and less vulnerable to challenges from outside. The huge effort which we make today, along with the entire society, will help farmers overcome the financial difficulties they have,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.
According to statistics statements, this assistance would facilitate the tilling of about 280,000 hectares of lands sowed with first-group crops (wheat, barley, oats).
