Chisinau, 28 August /MOLDPRES/ - The lawmakers of the Parliament 90 have returned to the hall where the Independence was voted and spoke to President Maia Sandu about that crucial moment from Moldova’s history. The head of state thanked the MPs for the courage and dignity they had proved to demand and gain the independence of Moldova, the presidential press service has reported.
The Moldovan president and the Independence MPs discussed the country’s future in the European Union and the actions the leadership is daily undertaking to edify a free and prosperous country, just as the people who fought for Moldova’s independence imagined this. ‘’The courage and the fight for freedom of those years bring us, year after year, to the Great National Assembly Square, free to celebrate the nation and independence. Free to speak the Romanian language, not to be humiliated in our country. Free to think and speak loudly,’’ the head of state said.
President Maia Sandu also said: ‘’For the first time in the last 30 years, we experience not only the hope of a better future, but feel confidence that we now have the chance and duty to bring Moldova to the European Union. Where the peace and independence of our country will be protected, the people who work will have chance to live well and Moldova will be treated with respect and appreciation.’’
