Moldovan president visits Bookfest exhibition, reads passage to children

Chisinau, 1 September /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu on 31 August read a passage from the book, The Little Prince, by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry to more children at the Bookfest International Book Saloon.   

„Some of the children proved to be true champions of reading, winners of the marathon of reading organized by the Ion Creanga National Library for Children. Other children just learn to read, but they are willing to hear tales. Many of them told me that they were looking forward to the first day of school, in order to see again their friends and learn new things. I wish them an as captivating school year as possible,’’ the head of state said.        

The Moldovan president visited the stands with books displayed at the Bookfest Saloon. ‘’I was happy to see so many good books and so many lovers of words and books, on this nice day, when we celebrate the Romanian Language,’’ Maia Sandu stressed.    

The head of state also said that the 2023 issue of this saloon was impressive – about 30,000 book volumes, 30 important publishing houses from Moldova and Romania, a lot of launches and discussions between valuable writers from both banks of the Prut river, quite many nice books for children and teenagers.  

„I urge you to go to Bookfest as many as possible, to discover beloved authors, fascinating books, publishing houses which promote the Romanian language, with a boundless love and self-denial,’’ President Maia Sandu added.
