Chisinau, 4 September /MOLDPRES/ - The World Cleanup Day 2023 Campaign will be held in Moldova till 16 September. The goal of this campaign is to enhance the degree of awareness about Moldova’s efforts to align with the European objectives: zero pollution, circular economy, integrated waste management and promotion of the prevention of the formation of waste through reducing the excessive consumption, in favour of waste’s recycling.
The World Cleanup Day is annually marked on the third Saturday of September. This is one of the biggest civic actions in the world, which brings together millions of volunteers, governments and organizations from 191 countries, who unite to approach the environmental challenges globally, as well as to edify a sustainable future. On this day, millions of people from all over the world commit to make the planet cleaner.
This year, the principal messages distributed within the campaign will deal with the reduction of the consumption of plastic and separate collection of waste. ‘’These subjects will provide opportunities to diverse sides interested to reflect both on the work carried out and the urgent steps needed in continuation for a sustainable management of waste in the long run. The campaign will end with a sanitation action nationally on 16 September,’’ the Environment Ministry.
The campaign is organized within the project, Be Plastic Pirate, implemented by the National Environment Centre and the Gutta-Club Republican Centre, with the financial support of the Small Grants Programme – a corporate programme of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), implemented by the United Nations Development Programme and co-financed by the government of Sweden. The action is organized by the Environment Ministry, the project, EU4 Environment – Green Economy, and the public association, National Environment Centre.
