Chisinau, 5 September /MOLDPRES/ - The Justice Ministry today informed that it would notify the law-enforcement bodies about the way the procurements of electronic monitoring devices had been carried out.
According to the quoted source, the Justice Ministry received the letter of the Association for Efficient and Responsible Governance (AGER), through which it was informed about the fact that an analysis of the procedure of acquisition of the electronic monitoring system had been carried out. The concerned analysis showed more irregularities, especially suspicions as to the faking of the acquisitions of electronic monitoring equipment carried out during 2019-2021.
In the context, the ministry will notify the competent law-enforcement bodies, to investigate the circumstances and irregularities identified by AGER.
At the same time, the Justice Ministry said that it had demanded that the National Probation Inspectorate (INP) adjusts the processes of monitoring, according to the requirements of efficiency and economy, including through improving the quality of the devices. Thus, INP will benefit from assistance on behalf of an international expert, who will assess the quality of the electronic bracelets, their compliance with the ISO/IEC standards and the good practice standards of the Council of Europe.
