Construction of road connecting Chisinau to border with Romania through southern region starts in Moldova

Chisinau, 6 September /MOLDPRES/ - The state enterprise, State Administration of Roads (ASD), today informed about the starting of the works on the site of construction of the M3 road, Chisinau-Comrat-Giurgiulesti-border with Romania (bypass road of the Vulcanesti town), km -0.000-km 8.580.
For this year, the activities planned include the cleaning of the site, excavation of the vegetal soil, starting the works of construction of embankments and the building of the channel, relocation of all utilities included in the project. These actions are essential for preparing the ground and ensuring a good carrying out of the construction works, according to the quoted source.
„The project provides for the construction of a new road, with two lanes, with a length of 8.58 km to the east and south of the Vulcanesti town. Thus, the works related to the concerned object will include: construction of a bridge at the km 2.965, with a length of 42 metres, and a passage at the km 4.690; the construction of new embankments; reconstruction of the existing road segment; arrangement of lateral accesses to farmlands and arrangement of the intersection with the regional road G142 Vulcanesti-Etulia,’’ ASD said.
The M3 road represents the shortest and the most important road of connection between Chisinau and Giurgiulesti, providing access to Danube and Black Sea. Also, the M3 corridor is an integral part of the European corridor E577 Poltava-Kirovograd- Chisinau-Giurgiulesti-Galati-Slobozia. The general goal of the project is to cut the costs for the road transport and shorten the time of travel for the beneficiaries of roads from Moldova.
This road infrastructure project is financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
