Household appliances to have energy labels in Moldova

Chisinau, 7 September /MOLDPRES/ - The household appliances will be accompanied by labels which contain information on their efficiency and energy impact. The lawmakers today adopted a draft law to this end in the first reading.   

The labels of the products with energy impact will contain clear-cut information on their energy efficiency, consumption of energy and other resources, as well as other additional information. Thus, an energy label with information about the energy class of the product and the consumption of electric energy will be put on each household appliance due to be sold in shops or online.  

The State Inspectorate for the Supervision of Non-Food Products and Consumers’ Protection will be the administrative authority in charge of the observance by the providers and traders of the legal provisions which regard the labelling of products. If the market supervision authority finds irregularities, it has right to impose sanctions to economic agents, in line with the provisions of the Contravention Code.
