New textbooks for pupils of primary, schools, gymnasiums, lyceums of Moldova

Chisinau, 8 September /MOLDPRES/ - The pupils from the primary schools, gymnasiums and lyceums have started the new school year with new textbooks. The Education and Research Ministry gave the mark ‘’good for printing’’ to 43 titles of school manuals and in 2024, new textbooks for another 67 titles will reach schools. Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun made statements to this effect.    

The education minister said the process of reallocation of certain manuals from some districts to Chisinau, in particular, was underway at present. ‘’Because of the internal migration and the increase in the number of children in some districts and especially in Chisinau, a deficit of manuals appeared. During the next weeks, we will endeavor to ensure as quickly as possible this process of reallocation of these textbooks from the districts where they are not used to the districts where they are demanded and do not reach. These manuals exist, but they are just not in the fit place at present. This is a process which takes place year after year,’’ the official specified.   

Dan Perciun also said that most textbooks from schools were up to five years old, but there are also certain exceptions. ‘’ We must recognize that we have particularly old textbooks, which must be urgently changed. We have 14 titles of lyceum manuals which have 11 years and have a title of 12 years. It is a priority to replace them next year and to avoid situations when we have such old manuals or their physical and moral condition no longer meets the needs,’’ the minister added.   

There are about 1,200 schools in Moldova, where more than 334,000 pupils study.
