Moldovan deputy premier meets Portugal's foreign minister

Chisinau, 12 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu began his working visit to Lisbon with a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal João Gomes Cravinho. They discussed Moldova's accession process to the EU and our significant progress in the implementation of the nine recommendations of the European Commission, the MAEIE press service has reported.
The Moldovan official said that we are counting on Portugal's support in starting EU accession negotiations by the end of this year.
The sides approached the organization of the fourth edition of the Moldova Support Platform due in Chisinau this October and will gather all the friends of our country at the same table. Topics such as economic resilience, energy security and attracting investment will be addressed.
"We also emphasized our interest in strengthening and diversifying Moldovan-Portuguese relations. In this regard, two agreements were signed: the Economic Cooperation Agreement, which will allow our countries to promote and support collaboration between small and medium-sized enterprises, and to explore possible investments in the field of industry; Cooperation agreement in the language, education, higher education, science and technology, culture, sports, youth and mass media.
We signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the Diplomatic Institute of the MAEIE and that of the Portuguese Republic, which will facilitate the exchange of knowledge and expertise in the field of diplomacy, European affairs and international relations.
I wanted to mention that the important factor contributing to the rapprochement between the favorable countries offered by the authorities, have successfully integrated into Portuguese society. We agreed with the minister to work together for the benefit of concrete projects for our Portuguese compatriots", said Popescu.
