Chisinau, 13 September /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s Embassy in Russia recommends that Moldovan citizens abstain from moving in Latvia and Estonia or transit these countries by vehicles registered in Russia.
According to Moldova’s Embassy in Russia, people who move by vehicles with Russian registration numbers are banned from entering the European Union through border crossing points between Latvia and Russia, Estonia and Russia.
Thus, the vehicles registered in Russia are banned from entering EU through Latvian and Estonian border checkpoints. ‘’People who drive such vehicles will be obliged to return to Russia and if they refuse to comply with the customs authorities’ instructions, a decision on confiscating the vehicles can be taken,’’ a press release by the Embassy reads.
According to the European Commission’s specifications, the car registered in Russia is regarded as banned import in the European Union. Nevertheless, the return from the European Union to Russia is allowed by vehicles with Russian registration numbers, on condition that they are not declared as goods and are used only as transport means.
The authority specified that an interdiction on the crossing of the European Union’s border by trucks registered in Russia had been earlier introduced.
