Chisinau, 14 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- The authorities are committed to build a new terminal at Chisinau International Airport. The project was included in Moldova infrastructure reconstruction plan for the next years, unveiled by Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spînu today.
According to the minister, the implementation of the project is necessary given that the airport's current capacity is limited, up to 3 million passengers annually, and forecasts show that we will have an increase in traffic in the coming years of up to five million passengers. "The construction of a new terminal, to European standards, needs to start as soon as possible. The basic estimates show a need for an investment of at least 200 million euros in the coming years", he said.
Another large-scale project concerns the construction of Ungheni - Chisinau - Odessa highway, consisting of two sections: Ungheni - Chisinau, with a distance of 110 km and Chisinau - Odessa, 190 km, including 145 on the territory of our country. "It is a strategic project that will develop our country and connect Moldova to the EU. This will be the highway that will integrate us into the European Union", pointed out Spînu.
The authorities also propose the reconstruction of the Giurgiulesti state port.
Spînu said that regardless of how long the implementation of the mentioned projects will take, they must be started and completed.
