Chisinau, 19 September /MOLDPRES/ - The European Parliament will organize a discussion and will adopt a resolution on the European integration way of Moldova at its plenary session in next October. A decision to this effect was taken at the Conference of the Presidents of the Political Groups of the European Parliament.
According to European lawmaker Siegfried Muresan, the European People’s Party’s (EPP) group of the European Parliament asked for the organization of the discussion and adoption of the resolution on Moldova.
„The request comes following an initiative on behalf of European MP Andrej Halicki – the deputy president of the European Parliament’s Delegation to the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly and on behalf of me, in my capacity of president of the European Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with Moldova. We bring Moldova on our agenda, as we want to reiterate the clear-cut position of the European Parliament on the starting of the negotiations on Moldova’s accession to the European Union till the end of this year,’’ Siegfried Muresan noted.
In June last year, Moldova got the status of country candidate for accession to the European Union. The Moldovan authorities were filed nine conditions for switching to the next phase of the accession – the one of negotiations. This autumn, the level of fulfillment of the European Commission’s recommendations will be assessed. Also, in the end of this year, the European institutions are to announce a decision on the starting of the negotiations on accession to EU.
