Chisinau, 19 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- The road legislation is to be amended. Today, public hearings were held at the Parliament during which new regulations in the road traffic were proposed.
National Security, Defense and Public Order Parliamentary Committee head, MP Lilian Carp said that the regulations cover several laws in the road and community security. "During the debates, we determined that there is a need to carry out a program on road safety in educational institutions. There is a need to establish more rules on road infrastructure. At the same time, we aim to combat the consumption of alcohol and drugs while driving, as the number of cases has been increasing in the last three years", said Lilian Carp.
Attending the event, the head of the General Police Inspectorate, Viorel Cernăuțeanu, said that the parliamentary hearings represent a useful platform that highlights the existing problems in the field and proposes solutions. "Today it was agreed to improve the regulatory framework to create a climate of safety in society. The proposals that will be consulted with civil society are to be submitted. Already for two weeks we have been working in mixed teams to create a draft law that will have a positive impact on society", he said.
The project is to be publicly debated and registered in Parliament.
In early September, Minister of Internal Affairs Adrian Efros announced that actions are to be carried out at the national level regarding the increase in the level of road safety. At the same time, the MAI will come up with a series of proposals to adjust the regulatory framework regarding the tightening of penalties for combating traffic rule violations. The changes are necessary in the context of the increase in the number of violations of traffic rules by traffic participants; the risks to which people are exposed and the serious consequences generated by the use of prohibited substances, excessive speed and aggressive driving.
