Chisinau, 20 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- The Constitutional Court (CC) stopped the process regarding the control of the constitutionality of the legal provisions according to which members of a political party declared unconstitutional will not be able to participate in elections for a period of five years.
A note to this effect was submitted in early August by several representatives of the Shor party, declared unconstitutional.
"The Constitutional Court found a parity of votes when adopting the decision. The process regarding the control of the constitutionality of the provisions of Article 16 (2), (e) of the Electoral Code, set by the law of July 31," CC head Nicolae Roșca said yesterday evening.
The Constitutional Court's decision is final, cannot be subject to any appeal, enters into force on the date of adoption and is published in the Official Journal.
The Shor party was declared unconstitutional this June. Later, the Parliament approved legislative changes that provide that members of parties declared unconstitutional will not be able to be elected for a period of up to five years.
