Moldova receives 76.8 million dollars on behalf of USAID for reimbursement of costs of electric energy

Chisinau, 20 September /MOLDPRES/ - The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has transferred 76.8 million dollars to Moldova for the reimbursement of the record costs for electric energy during the winter of 2022-2023 years.
„Within the USAID’s commitment to provide assistance worth 300 million dollars for strengthening Moldova’s energy security, a procedure of transfer of 76.8 million dollars as direct budgetary support for Moldova’s government has been recently finished. This money, through the World Bank, will be meant for the reimbursement of the record costs for electric energy during the 2022-2023 winter,’’ USAID said.
Following the today’s cabinet meeting, the spokesman for the government, Daniel Voda, said that, ‘’in the last winter, Moldova budgeted this sum from public resources, thus contributing to the direct support of the citizens and now, through the transfer of this money, the concerned funds can be used for backing other public needs.’’
Besides this assistance, the United States provided Moldova with support, in order to meet the economic, energy, security and humanitarian impact caused by the war in Ukraine, at the same time, advancing the agenda of economic and democratic reforms.
