Pre-Vetting Commission came up with reaction on CSM member Iulian Muntean

Chisinau, 21 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- Pre-Vetting Commission came up today with a reaction on member of the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) Iulian Muntean, after information appeared in the public space according to which he was accused in a criminal corruption case dating back to 2019.
The commission said that throughout the evaluation process of Iulian Muntean, it was not informed about investigations or criminal proceedings in which he would have been targeted.
"To assess the financial and ethical integrity of the candidates, the Commission collects data from numerous public and private sources, including for example the National Anticorruption Center (CNA) and the Intelligence and Security Service (SIS). In none of the information provided to the Commission there was any reference to the criminal investigations regarding the candidate or to his procedural-criminal capacity as an accused", the commission said.
At the same time, the commission claims that neither Iulian Muntean has disclosed any criminal proceedings filed against him.
In the context of the new circumstances, the Commission claims that it will notify the responsible authorities in relation to the apparent failure to provide information regarding the pending criminal proceedings regarding the Muntean candidate, in order to clarify the reason for the lack of this data.
With a reaction in this case Iulian Muntean also came, who claims that "the so-called case was manufactured at the order of Plahotniuc regime, as a method of intimidating people before the elections". "Moreover, this file is not in any database managed by state bodies. So the file simply doesn't exist. Considering all these circumstances, I can only conclude that the purpose of this information is to intimidate me", said Muntean.
Iulian Muntean, candidate for the position of member in the CSM, passed the extraordinary evaluation on August 14, 2023, and was appointed by the Parliament as a member of the CSM on September 7.
Recently, information appeared in the public space according to which Iulian Muntean would have been accused in a criminal corruption case.
