Chisinau, 25 September /MOLDPRES/ - The League of Cities and Communes Party of Moldova (LOC) has withdrawn its political support to Mihail Bagas, the formation’s candidate for the office of Chisinau mayor. LOC members made statements to this effect at a news conference today.
The formation’s members noted that, so far, they had not managed to get an answer on behalf of Mihail Bagas or his relatives on his involvement in the file which regards the illegal financing of political parties.
„In the context, the party’s National Council ruled to withdraw the political support given to the candidate. In a short time, we will compile the approaches needed, in order to withdraw him from the electoral race for the capital’s city hall. The decision was approved, given that, in the context of these events, the party and the entire team was defamed. We rely on the fact that the law-enforcement bodies will investigate the case objectively,’’ the LOC co-head, Alexandru Bujorean, said.
Activist, candidate for the Chisinau general mayor on behalf of LOC Mihail Bagas, on 21 September was detained on a criminal file concerning the illegal financing of political parties. Subsequently, the court ruled to place him under arrest for 30 days. In the same file, MPs Alexandr Nesterovschi and Irina Lozovan were detained in the end of the last week.
