34th session of FAO Regional Conference for Europe to be organized in Moldova

Chisinau, 26 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- Moldova will host the 34th session of the FAO Regional Conference for Europe planned for May 2024, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA) has reported.
Attending the event will be representatives from 54 FAO Member States, including the EU as a full member of FAO. "This conference will provide an important platform for the exchange of best practices, expertise and innovative solutions in the agriculture and food safety," the Ministry of Agriculture said.
Such an event is an excellent platform to discuss the current problems of the agri-food sector in the region, in the context of the conflict in Ukraine and the destructive effects on the regional and global food system.
FAO deputy regional representative Nabil Gangi said that the organization of such a Conference will increase the international and regional visibility of the Republic of Moldova, taking into account the high level of participants and the opportunity to attract new external assistance projects for the agri-food sector etc.
The FAO Regional Conference is one of the governing bodies of FAO, which meets once every two years. The Republic of Moldova has been a member of FAO since 1995.
