Chisinau, 5 October /MOLDPRES/ - The developments in the process of Moldova’s accession to the European Union have been assessed at a meeting of the governmental commission for European integration, chaired by Prime Minister Dorin Recean, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The PM stressed the importance of the efficient planning and the consolidation of the authorities’ efforts, in order to shorten the time of implementation of the actions and boost the carrying out of the European agenda. At the same time, the prime minister emphasized the need to develop the capacities of funds’ accessing, increase the number of contacts at the operational level, as well as of the involvement of representatives of the academic environment and the civil environment at all stages.

„We need well-educated human resources, a large number of specialists, who will get involved in the phase of the negotiations on accession. Let us not forget that the speed with which we will move towards the achievement of our strategic goal – integration into the European Union – depends on each of us,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.

For his part, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu highlighted the progress made in the carrying out of those nine recommendations of the European Commission and referred to the adjusting to the European legislation on those 33 chapters in the acquis.

‘’The progress made by the Moldovan authorities in June 2023 allowed the describing of three recommendations as already fulfilled (electoral sector, civil society, human rights). It is crucial that we maintain the concerned pace, in order to give the European Commission and the EU member states enough arguments for the recommendation and, respectively, the approval, till the end of 2023, of the launch of the negotiations on our country’s accession to EU,’’ the Moldovan diplomacy head said.

The next stage for Moldova is the preparation for self-evaluation of the compliance of the national legislation with the European norms and regulations. In all, 27,000 acts are to be analyzed, in order to establish which of them are applicable in the case of Moldova.

In the end of the meeting, the former chief negotiator for Romania’s integration into EU, Vasile Puscas, referred to his country’s experience on the period of accession: ‘’ When a clear-cut goal, the decision-makers and terms are established, we much easier find ways and means to advance as quickly as possible. The human resource is the most important element – Moldova will succeed due to the people involved and dedicated to the process.’’
