Chisinau, Oct. 6 /MOLDPRES/- Moldovan government through the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry announces the launch of the Agri-Food Partnership Platform. The event, organized on October 6 - 7 in Chisinau, benefits from the support of the European Union, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Food Program (WFP), the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean stressed the need to develop a competitive agricultural sector, and pointed out the importance of formulating appropriate policies to support farmers. "We must direct taxpayers' funds to a high-productivity agriculture and invest more in modern technologies," said Recean.

"Agriculture is a profitable business. Our role is to identify the right policies to develop market institutions that support farmers, to invest in food production, processing, distribution and consumption, ensuring the entire value chain", he said.

The event focused on other challenges facing the global food market, especially against the backdrop of the effects of Russia's brutal war against Ukraine. Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vladimir Bolea said "We are honored to receive the high-level delegations. We are one step closer to the European Union in the field of agriculture and the food industry. Creating this partnership platform together with friendly countries will help us improve this sector and identify new opportunities for the Republic of Moldova".

German Minister of Agriculture Cem Özdemir highlighted the efforts made in Chisinau, saying "the program was prepared professionally, and the presence of high-level officials from the EU member states is a clear statement that we are with Moldova. I want to thank your country for all the support provided".

The Agri-Food Partnership Platform is an essential tool in the consolidation and modernization of the agricultural and food sector of the Republic of Moldova, underlining our country's continuous commitment to European integration and sustainable development. 11 EU member states, Austria, Estonia, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, as well as representatives of international organizations participate in the event.

A joint Declaration on supporting the efforts of the Republic of Moldova to develop and modernize the agri-food sector during its accession to the European Union is to be adopted. The event can be followed online on the website of the Government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry.
