Moldova's Action and Solidarity Party launches electoral campaign for general local polls

Chisinau, 6 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) today launched its electoral campaign for the general local polls. The slogan of the formation in the ballot is, For a European Moldova and Moldova is Europe.
The event was held in the centre of the Moldovan capital, on the square of the Maria Biesu National Opera and Ballet Theatre, where candidates for the general local elections from more settlements of the country brought together. The event started with the honouring of the national anthem. Subsequently, participants in the event unveiled projects implemented by the Moldovan leadership.
Attending the event, PAS president, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu said that the general local elections were extremely important for the entire country. ‘’I am happy to see the PAS team today. These elections are quite important, as having European president, parliamentary majority, we need also European mayors and councilors. The PAS team is the Europe team. This autumn, we must win the elections and start the negotiations on the country’s accession to EU. We will go from village to village to speak to people about the EU family,’’ Igor Grosu said.
For his part, Prime Minister Dorin Recean presented the actions and projects carried out by the government. ‘’Along with President Maia Sandu, we are set to bring Europe home till 2030. This is our goal and to achieve it, the cabinet is implementing 20 priorities. Dear citizens, we are set to modernize all villages and cities; vote for the PAS team, the Europe team. Along with the European partners, we will achieve nice results,’’ Dorin Recean said.
At the same time, the PAS candidate for the office of Chisinau general mayor, Lilian Carp, stressed that, along with his team, he would transform Chisinau into a European capital. ‘’Moldova deserves its place in Europe; we want to be part of this family. We need a European capital, in which the comfort is priority. We want a modern infrastructure, heritage turned to good account, arranged yards and blocks, cared areas for leisure. We will bring Chisinau to Europe together,’’ Lilian Carp noted.
PAS informed that the formation had put forward over 700 candidates for the office of mayor, 1,200 candidates for district councils and 9,250 candidates for local councilors at the general local elections.
The electoral campaign for the general local elections, due on 5 November, started today. In this context, more political formations, among which the Party of Communists (PCRM) and Party of Socialists (PSRM), started the electoral campaign, which introduced the candidates, the teams and the electoral programme, which regards projects on infrastructure and settlements’ development. The electoral campaign will end on 3 November this year.
