Foreign ministry: Moldovan Embassy in Israel on high alert

Chisinau, Oct. 9 /MOLDPRES/- The Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Israel has announced high alert, only emergency consular services are provided, such as issuing travel documents. So far, the Embassy has received 65 requests on information about the situation in the country and commercial flights.

Chisinau authorities said that this morning at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration a meeting of the crisis cell took place to analyze the security situation in Israel.

Following the meeting, the ministry recommended all citizens of the Republic of Moldova, who wish to leave Israel, to use the commercial routes available in the coming days, whether they are heading to Chisinau, Bucharest or other cities from which they can travel more easily to the Republic of Moldova. Thus, the following flights on the route Tel-Aviv - Chisinau are scheduled for: October 10, 11, 12 and 15.

The embassy issued a statement informing that the visas of foreigners who are legally in Israel and which expire next month will be extended.

Israel officially declared war on Hamas on Sunday, after the unprecedented offensive launched a day ago by the Palestinian Islamist movement in Gaza, the clashes resulting in more than a thousand deaths.
