Moldovan, American officials approach important issues

Chisinau, Oct. 11 /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Dorin Recean received the American delegation headed by North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine Marshall at the government. The meeting was an opportunity to strengthen relations with North Carolina and to highlight the continuous cooperation with the United States of America, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
"Every year, the Republic of Moldova and North Carolina strengthen their twinning relationship. We thank you for the personal contribution you bring to the development of the Moldovan-American partnership, and we continue to count on all the support of our friends in North Carolina in the implementation of the agenda of common interest", Recean said.
In the discussion, the officials addressed many issues, including:
Strengthening the economic partnership - potential for increased trade and investment between Moldova and North Carolina was recognized, especially in the technology, agriculture, education, energy security and transition to green energy.
Cultural and Educational Cooperation – Interest was expressed in continuing to promote cultural exchanges and educational programs between universities of North Carolina and those of our country.
Support for Moldova's accession to the European Union - Recean pointed out our country's firm commitment to integrate into the community space, and the American official reiterated that, by supporting sector programs, the state of North Carolina contributes to the achievement of Moldova's European aspirations.
Training, strategic communication and security - Recean welcomed the launch of a new cooperation project with the University of North Carolina School of Government, which will help improve the programs offered to our country's civil servants. At the end of this week, American experts will conduct training in the public administration management and strategic communication.
The offficial also pointed out North Carolina's contribution to transforming the National Army according to Western standards, through the bilateral commitments made by the Ministry of Defense and the North Carolina National Guard.
For her part, Elaine Marshall reconfirmed the support of the American partners in the state of North Carolina and outlined new cooperation goals in the economic and education sectors. "A strong state means strong institutions and competent employees," the American official said.
The American state of North Carolina has been twinned with the Republic of Moldova since 1999.
