Moldova signs cooperation agreement with World Tourism Organization

Chisinau, 18 October /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova and the World Tourism Organization have signed an agreement on the implementation of the project titled, Empowerment of young women: sustainable living means through tourism in Moldova. The project is carried out with the financial support of Estonia and is meant for young women who work in the tourism sector in Moldova.
The event took place at the 25th General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), held in Samarkand, an Uzbek city regarded as one of the tourist pearls of Central Asia.
The agreement was signed by Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan and UNWTO Secretary General Zurab Pololikashvili. On this occasion, the Moldovan official stressed the importance of this document. ‘’We want, in this way, to contribute to the development of the native tourism, to turn to good account as efficiently as possible the opportunities existing in the field and turn Moldova into a constant tourist attraction point for visitors from all over the world,’’ Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan said.
At the meeting, Minister Sergiu Prodan discussed with colleagues from other countries ways of backing the sector for the promotion of tourism knowledge and policies. ‘’We are interested also in the good practices in the promotion of tourism as engine of economic growth, of inclusive development and environment’s sustainability,’’ Sergiu Prodan said.
