Chisinau, Oct. 18 /MOLDPRES/- Data of the passenger name register in air transport will be used in Moldova. The draft law on the matter was examined by the national security, defense and public order parliamentary commission today.
Thus, the data of the passenger name register will be transmitted later to the relevant authorities in the country and in other states, as well as to Europol.
According to the authors, this will contribute to the implementation of security measures, by detecting people affiliated with terrorist groups and formations, those suspected of committing terrorist actions or travelers who pose risks to national security. More precisely, the collection and use of data from the passenger register will allow the identification of persons who present certain risks before they reach the state border crossing point, and the competent authorities will be able to make a decision about the additional measures to be applied before their arrival.
At the same time, the data may be transmitted to other states and international organizations, including Europol, according to the legal provisions and pursuant to the international treaties to which the Republic of Moldova is a party.
