Moldovan government approved new measures to mitigate energy crisis

Chisinau, Oct. 18 /MOLDPRES/- The government increases the protection of socially vulnerable groups, security and energy efficiency of the country by amending the National Action Plan to mitigate the energy crisis. The continuity and operationality of the Fund for Reducing Energy Vulnerability is ensured, the compensation mechanism being improved, so that state support is directed to the consumers most affected by the price increase, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
EcoVoucher and Green House Programs, financed in 2023 by the European Union and piloted by UNDP Moldova were set in the plan. They provide for the replacement of electrical household equipment with other, energy efficient ones, and the installation of photovoltaic systems in households.
Another component of the plan sees the obligation of natural gas companies to secure gas stocks for the 2023-2024 heating season. Natural gas stocks on November 1, 2023 will have to correspond to a volume of 15% of the annual gas consumption.
