Communities from cross-border areas of Moldova, Romania to receive European funds

Chisinau, 18 October /MOLDPRES/ - The communities from the cross-border areas of Moldova and Romania will be able to access European funds for the implementation of joint projects.
The grants worth 77.3 million euros will be provided through the Interreg VI-A NEXT Romania – Moldova 2021-2027 Programme.
The parliamentary commission for economy, budget and finances will propose to the parliament’s plenum the ratification of the trilateral agreement on financing between Moldova, European Commission and the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration of Romania.
The Interreg Programme’s goal is to improve the living standards of the citizens from the cross-border area of Moldova and Romania, through investments in infrastructure, education, exchange of experience. Based on the grants provided by the European Commission, the following priorities will be financed: green communities, special development and cooperation in the cross-border area.
The overall budget of the Interreg VI-A NEXT Romania – Moldova 2021-2027 Programme is of 85.9 million euros. Additionally, the participating states are to contribute with 10 per cent of the technical assistance for the programme.
