Moldovan cabinet allocates over 750,000 lei to liquidate consequences of last July bad weather

Chisinau, 18 October /MOLDPRES/ - Over 750,000 lei (37.5 thousand euros) will be allocated from the government’s reserve fund for liquidating the consequences triggered by the heavy rains and strong wind from 25 July this year.
According to the Interior Ministry (MAI), assets in form of corrugated iron for roofs, metal tile and timber are to be carried to the settlements hit by the torrential rains and the strong wind from the northern Edinet, Donduseni and Drochia districts.
In the process of assets’ transportation, besides the transport units of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), additionally, transports units of the General Police Inspectorate, as well as the Defence Ministry were involved, in order to ensure the quick intervention in backing the residents.
The heavy rains and the strong wind from late last July caused damages in more settlements from north and central Moldova. Most damages were recorded in the districts of Edinet, Soroca, Donduseni, Rascani și Drochia. The government said it would earmark 16 million lei for the settlements hit by the bad weather.
