More hospitals of Moldova to receive modern defibrillators

Chisinau, 18 October /MOLDPRES/ - Thirty four district hospitals, seven republican institutions and four municipal ones will receive modern defibrillators. The event of official delivery of the medical devices took place at the Orhei District Hospital today.

Attending the event was the leadership of the Health Ministry, who thanked international partners for the backing of Moldova’s health system.

The defibrillators help reestablish the heart’s rhythm and the normal work of the heart through the emission of an electric impulse on the heard. Also, these devices allow carrying out the electrocardiography, as well as monitoring the physiological parameters, such as the oxygen saturation in blood, blood pressure, especially following the cardiac resuscitation.

The defibrillators were purchased by the World Health Organization, with the financial support of the European Union, governments of Germany and Switzerland. The cost of the equipment is of 404,089 dollars.
