Văleni village included in ranking of world's best rural tourist destinations

Chisinau, Oct. 19 /MOLDPRES/- Văleni village, Cahul district was nominated Best Tourism Villages 2023 by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Secretariat, being the most prestigious award at the global level for rural tourism.
According to the EU Delegation to Moldova, the locality stood out internationally for the extraordinary landscapes towards Lake Beleu and the Golden Hills, as well as for the first reserve in the Republic of Moldova, Lower Prut - included in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
The locality is known due to the thousands of tourists on cruise ships on the Danube, and due to the participation of the grandmother from Văleni in Eurovision (2005) with Zdob and Zdub band.
The village of Văleni benefited from the financial support of the European Union for the expansion of boarding houses, the development of local infrastructure and community initiatives. So far, the EU has invested 6.45 million euros through 125 projects implemented in tourism, energy efficiency and entrepreneurial development.
