Moldovan Central Electoral Commission approves models of ballot papers for election of councilors from Chisinau, Comrat

Chisinau, 19 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today approved the models of the ballot papers for the election of councilors in the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) and the Comrat municipal council, Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, at the general local elections due on 5 November 2023.

The CEC’s decision comes in the context in which the electoral council of the Chisinau municipal electoral constituency No 1 has registered 35 electoral contenders for the office of councilor in the Chisinau Municipal Council and the electoral council of the Comrat municipal electoral constituency No 36/1 registered 57 electoral contenders for the position of councilor in the Comrat municipal council.

According to the provisions of the Instruction on the model’s approval, the printing, submission and preservation of the ballot papers, if more than 30 electoral contenders are registered in the ballot paper, the latter will be printed in format of booklet.

In the context, CEC ruled that the ballot papers will be printed on dull paper of beige colour for the election of the councilors in CMC and of gray smoked colour for the election of the councilors in the Comrat municipal council, UTA Gagauzia.
